Severe Pain Under Rib Cage Forcing Me To Throw Up. Undergone Thoracotomy. Should I Be Concerned?

I have severe pain on the left side under the rib cage. It gets so bad that it makes me throw up. I had a thoracotomy in Dec. and this was one of the symptoms that I experienced before the surgery, which was an emergency surgery. Should I be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. would have liked to know more details about other symptoms, the indication of thoracotomy and the findings/ diagnosis. Yes, you should be concerned as there can be a repeatation of the previous problems or be a sequel or complication of the surgery , may be a minor one like entrapment of the thoracic nerves as they travel just under the ribs and get easily entrapped in the scar tissue. Vomiting can be due to reflex mechanism of the body.
