Hello,

Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern regarding vertigo. To me, it seems very very unlikely that enlarged tonsils are causing episodes of vertigo. If you have had recurrent infections of tonsils, associated with pain and difficulty while swallowing, associated fever, then the operation is justified.
You need to get a thorough evaluation of your vertigo. It could most probably be due to inner ear causes. Do you have associated ringing or fullness in the ears? Have you got a pure tone audiometry? Have you got an Xray of your cervical spine?
Kindly let me know the above and I will be able to guide you further. Do let me know if you have any further doubts.

Kind Regards,

Hello,
there is a tube behind the nose which connects to the middle part of ear.
If the Tonsils are enlarged then the opening and closing of the tube is restricted .which is very important for maintaining the pressure difference in middle part of ear and outside .So if the pressure is not maintained then there can be negative pressure and fluid starts collecting, which then causes decreased hearing .
In addition there are Adenoids behind the nose which block the opening of the tube and same sequence follows.

So if the tonsils are enlarged better to get operated.
