Sharp Pain Around Sternum, Lasts For Only A Second, Breathlessness. Causes For Symptoms?
I have a sudden sharp pain that hits me around my sternum. It happens suddenly and only last a second but it is intense. Happens anytime. Scares me and seems like it takes my breath. I can be walking, sitting, or laying. Might not happen for a day or even a week but then it might happen three or more times a day. I check my blood pressure and its usually around 140/ 80 and pulse is 90 during this.
Thanks for your health concerns. Sharp pain that lasts seconds in the chest is less likely to come from the heart, and more likely to come from musculoskeletal structures such as costochondritis or inflammation of the cartilage of the breast bone, or esophageal causes such as spasm. It would be prudent to visit a primary care provider to explore these differential.
Hope this helps, wish you the best
