Sharp Pain Felt After Protected Intercourse. Bartholin Gland Swollen. Prescribed Antibiotics. Cyst?

I had protected intercourse I felt a sharp pain, and my bartholin left gland was swollen like a golf ball. I did many home remedies, soaked & its been 3 weeks the size went down at least half the size. I'm just waiting to see how it heals. I have had sex since it doesn't swell up but it do have a redness (which is Normal for me) I did see a PA who wanted to prescribe me a anti. But in all honesty I want a second opinion. Would this be considered a cyst?

hi!
it could be a cyst or boil.
the area what you are referring to is very prone for infection as the pH keeps on changing.
no matter whether its cyst or boil, primary treatment still remains the same. if its so much swollen, you should take oral antibiotics to facilitate healing.you can apply local antibiotics as well, please use dusting powder in perigenital area to keep it clean. additionally please take a course of pain killers with antibiotics, they not only decrease the pain but also inflammation and signs like swelling, redness.
hope this helps .
