Shortness Of Breath, Cold, Fever. On Ventolin Inhaler. Chances Of Beginning Of Asthma?

My granddaughter aged three and a half just been discharged from hospital after experiencing shortage of breath after having cold symptoms and high temperature. Sent out with ventolin inhaler (which she hates!) Concerned she may be starting with asthma . Hospital says it was a viral infection,what symptoms should we be looking out for?

Hello,

Viral infection to the respiratory system with create inflammation of the airway and with trigger hyperreactive airway syndrome.
If left untreated the chronic inflammation will progress to Bronchial asthma.
Continue the inhaler. it is a bronchodilator. It has less systemic side effects due to inhalation route.
Look out for any cough and difficulty in breathing.
