Shortness Of Breath, Unproductive Cough And Chest Discomfort. ECG Report Showing Atrial Flutter, Fascicular Block. Any Suggestions?
hi, i ve had recent 4 week history of unproductive cough which makes me short of breath intermittently and especially when talking. I have a feeling of central chest discomfort/fluttery feeling as opposed to pain. it wakes me in the night most nights and i have to sit up for about an hour coughing until it subsides. Never had it bofore and fit otherwise for a 48yr old. Because it is becoming irritating i asked a medical colleague at work to do an ECG just now. We did two as the following report was given: atrial flutter; abnormal left axis deviation; left anterior fascicular block; incomplete right bundle branch block; T abnormality in high lateral leads. My apologies for such a lengthy explanation. Thank you for any advice.
Hi,
the symptoms you describe suggest a probable onset of heart failure or insufficient cardiac output to assure adequate distribution of blood to your body structures. I think a cardiac ultrasound could be very helpful and consulting a cardiologist to blend your ECG results with those of the cardiac ultrasound, chest X ray and your clinical state. A definitive diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan could then be put in place.
Thanks and hope it helps,
Luchuo, MD.
