Should Althea Pills Be Avoided During Pregnancy?

Hi Doctors. I have been taking Althea Pills for more than 2 years now. My menstrual period has become normal and regular. Then January of this year, I have decided to stop and take a rest from the pill, thinking that it could regularize my menstrual period (I was told that pills could regulate menstrual period). I got my period for the month of Feb (normal and regulard flow) but still not have it from March to present. I have been engaged sexually with my partner but only oral, though there s one time when he almost penetrated inside me. But it happened only once. The actual protected sex we had happened this month (May) and we used a condom. Im afraid that there could be pre-cum when he almost penetrated and there s a chance that Im pregnant. Please advise if I should continue with my pills and explain the delay of my period. Also, is there a chance of me getting pregnant through pre-ejaculation?

Hi,
The causes of this delay in the period can vary from hormone imbalance and possibly the absence of ovulation that has hitherto caused the irregular cycles, to the possibility of pregnancy. Complete penetration and ejaculation are not needed for conception to occur during the fertile period. Pre-ejaculate contains enough sperm to fertilize the ovum. So, in the current scenario, please see a specialist for a complete evaluation, confirm/exclude pregnancy through urine or blood test and a sonogram and plan further management. Hope this helps.
