Should Azithromycin Dosage Be Skipped If Administered An Extra Dose The Previous Day?
Hi. My daughter is taking Azithromycin and I gave her the first dose yesterday(5ml) and the rest of the days its 2.5ml. My husband accidentally gave her another dose(2.5ml) at night not knowing it was once a day. Since it was doubled yesterday so I give her, her regular dose this morning or skip it until the next day? Thank you for your time and cooperation. I look forward to hear back from you.
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic! I understand your concern.
Overdose should be avoided always. However, the extra dose was only once, so no need to worry. Effects are unlikely. Just look out for a few symptoms like vomiting and abdominal pain. In which case, you can visit your pediatrician soon. Continue the rest of the dose.
Thanks for the query. Get well soon.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. SUKHI, General & Family Physician
