Should Benadryl Be Given For A Bee Sting?

Hi my daughter just stepped on a bee about 10 minutes ago. I put some tobacco out of a cigeratte on the sting. This is a first time she has been stung by a bee. She does not seem to be showing any signs of reaction to it. I was wondering if I should give her Benadryl or wait to see if she has a reaction?

Hello, Thnx to contact us. If I am your treating doctor I would like to advice you that you should start with the benadryl do not wait for the reaction to come. Putting a tobacco on wound is wrong practice, it should be avoided. The reaction is very fast you can say only in seconds if the daughter is previously been bitten by the bee. and slower in case of first time bite. But it is wise to start benadryl at earliest. you should also keep tablet dexamethasone in hand and if rapid reaction is observed give it to the patient earliest. also do not forget the wound care once the acute treatment part is over. If you have anything else to ask please contact me. Thanx. Dr. Arun Tank
