Should Gestin Be Continued While Periods Are Being Delayed?

Hi, I have been ttc for the past 7 months. I conceived once but naturally miscarried in early february. Then my doctor prescribed Gestin to be taken from the 15th day of my cycle for 14 days. Last month was the first time i started taking Gestin i.e in April i got my periods before i completed the 14 days course, on the 28th day of my cycle. Then i stopped the medicine and resumed again on the 15 th day of this cycle. This time I have stopped the 14 day course the day before yesterday. Still no signs of periods arriving. Could i be pregnant? I know that Gestin is progestrone which helps retain pregnancy if it happens. But i have stopped taking it from day before yesterday, is it right? Should i continue taking it considering the possibility that i may have conceived?

Hello,

The Progesterone has multiple modes of actions over uterus endothelium, that of being maintenance of pregnancy decidua while placenta is taking over charge of progesterone production, menstruation irregularities and others. The Gastrin intake should be consumed for the prescribed period of time and not by assuming that possible pregnancy is there and you have to continue the same for that purpose. Kindly discuss further dose guidelines with your OBGYN rather deciding on your own intake or discontinuation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
