Should I Be Concerned About Feeling Hot, Sweaty, And Experiencing Anxiety After Having Two Teeth Pulled And A Deep Cleaning?

I had 2 teeth pulled and a dental deep clean today about 45 minutes ago I started feeling really hot and sweaty, and this triggered kind of a panic or anxiety attack Should I be concerned enough to go to a hospital, like something from the tooth pulling caused this, or chalk it up to a panic attack, I took 0.25mg of clonazepam about 30 minutes ago. I m still feeling a little icky but everything seems to have calmed down

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Dental procedures can trigger a stress response. Local anesthetic with epinephrine can cause flushing, sweating, rapid heartbeat, and anxiety for up to an hour or so in sensitive people. Sweating, and weakness can happen if you did not eat before and after your procedure, that's natural. Ongoing bleeding with dizziness could signal a drop in blood pressure and hence causing the symptoms.

If symptoms are calming down then it was likely a reaction to stress, adrenaline, or the anesthetic. However, if you get fever, chills, chest pain, palpitations then don't stay at home. Go to ER as you need urgent medical aid. If you are fine, take rest. Drink some cool water and eat something soft if you haven’t eaten.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
