Should I Be Concerned About High BP?

My husband is 64y/o. In April he had atrial flutter with a rate of 145. He ended up having a cardioversion after heparin tx for one month. He went back into A-flutter then had a successful ablation. Doing pretty good until today, he feels funky and dizzy . His blood pressure is 168/98. He takes 50mg of cozar everyday. Should I be alarmed at this blood pressure? Does he need more medicine?

Hi welcome to HCM,
Fluctuations in blood pressure are quite common in the post and peri ablative period.Antihypertensives like metoprolol should be given for certain period of time until the rate and rhythm normalize .This period can extend for 3-4 weeks. You need not be alarmed of this blood pressure, but should be cautious of further elevations.regular monitoring of blood pressure can helpful to document unexpected elevations.Reduce the intake of salt to less than 5 mg.Continue cozar 50mg.Consult your doctor for further queries.
Thank you
