Should I Be Concerned About The Bleeding Through The Nose?

Hi I have had 3 nosebleed this week. All from the left nostril. It started after my gastro. The 2 first time I lost alot of blood but the third time it happened it only bleed a little big. My nose is kinda dry at the base. Is this any cause to be alarmed? All the lost have been sucessfully stopped by myself and it allways took under 20 mins to stop the bleeding. Last time it took like 5 mins

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding your nose bleed, three times in a weeks time. As you said that your left nose is only bleeds and it is quite dry. Here I would like to tell you that bleeding nose may occur due to various systemic diseases like- Hypertension, Severe anaemia, Thrombocytopenia, chronic liver diseases and renal diseases. Similarly there are various local diseases of nose like- septal ulcer, traumatic may be in removing nasal crusts, polyps, infections and growth in nasal cavity.

So my opinion is that you should consult your family doctor and ENT specialist to rule out the various above listed diseases and thus treatment may be plan accordingly. Till you are waiting for medical experts you may take -

1- Tab Ethamsylate.

2- Saline spray to soften the blood crust in nose.

3- If active bleeding occurs than pinch the nose for some time.
