Hi doctor, i had continuous throat infection and dry cough for last 3 weeks and had medicines but no use. I went to a doctor and he gave me initial treatment 2 days back and nothing workedout.Yesterday he advised me to take blood sample report and we found it is Enteric fever. The result shows below:

Widal test:

S Typhi H : Positive 1:40 Dilution
S Paratyphi A & B are negative. Kindly advise what level of severity it is. I have been diagnosed with injections through saline:

Hello
Thanks for the query to HCM Forum.
You are having dry cough with throat infection from last 3 weeks .
Prescribed meromac ( meropenem 1 gm), cefoperazone+sulbactum (cefina)with taper injection , pantaprazolew with methyl prednisolone .
According to your history of illness , throat infection and dry cough may be due to .
Asthmatic allergic bronchitis with super added infection .
In my clinic usually I prescribe levofloxacin 750 mg orally once in day with bronchodilator ( monteleukast + bambuterole ) .
This treatment , I advise only for 3-5 days .
But these drugs are prescription medicine so you should consult your physician and get his consultation ( 2nd opinion ).
As far as concerned about typhoid fever , you are not having typhoid according to this report.
As more than 1:160 dilution is regarded as POSITIVE , while in your case it is only 1:40 .
2nd point is you didn't mention that you are having fever as only throat infection and dry cough present .
One more point is important as cough is more then 3 weeks so get in X ray chest for tuberculosis .
Deal as above mentioned .
Good luck.
