Should I Be Concerned For Having Menstrual Cycle For 14 Days After Long Gap?

Hi...I've turn 50 this year and have not had my period for months, thinking I was heading for menopause. On Oct. 30, it returned and I've been menstrual for 14 days now. A normal cycle, the flow is the heaviest on the second day, I've been like this for 14 days now. Should I be making a appointment with my Doctor?

Hello
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
In my opinion menses after the gap of many months ( around 50 years ) is a common thing, not a cause of concern. As this menstruation is due to hormonal imbalance.
If recurs then it is a cause of concern , then you must consult a gynecologist .
Just for precaution get in ultrasound of uterus and blood examination for estrogen , testosterone and F S H/LH ratio.
If any abnormal finding in these reports then consult a gynecologist.
Good luck.
