Should I Be Concerned For Inserting Pacemaker In 94 Year Old?

My father in law is 94 years old, he had a heart attck last summer and I do not what has been going on since. But now we learned that he is having a pacemaker inserted next week. Is this more serious because of his age? Will they still use a local anesthetic or will he be under a general?

Hello,
Thank you for the query.
Every procedure is more serious because of age. But pacemaker placement usually is a simple procedure done under local anesthesia. If the pacemaker is implanted because of the sick sinus syndrome(common problem at that age) then the situation is less severe.
So I think it is not more concerning than a heart attack.
