Should I Be Concerned With The Elevated GGT For Which Taking Ursocol Twice Everyday?

Sir,

My mother age 62. She has undergone some routine test like Lipid profile, Sugar, LFT, KFT, CBC. In LFT, GGT is elevated to 61 (She is non alcoholic) and also some of LFT parameters are elevated.
Hereby I am attaching the report.

For GGT she is taking Ursocol 300, 2 times a day.

Could you put some light on the reports and does Ursocol 300 will benefit her.

Thanks & regards

Hi Mr. Devesh,

Thanks for your query.

More information (in as much detail about the problems, as possible); all test reports, particularly that of LFT and Serum amylase, is required in order to reach to a definite conclusion and give my professional opinion. Also, I can't comment whether Ursocol will be of benefit or not.

An elevated GGT is suggestive of gall-bladder disease, stones in gall bladder or in the bile duct which transfers the bile into the intestine. Also, possibility of a pancreas problem cannot be ruled out.

So, please get an ultrasound of liver, gall bladder, pancreas and kidneys done, along with Serum Amylase.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.

Alternatively, you can revert back to me THROUGH DIRECT PREMIUM PAID QUERY, ADDRESSED TO ME BY NAME, giving as much details of her health problems as possible, current medication, allergies if any and your specific queries. You will receive- almost immediately- my response in great details.
