Should I Be Scared About A Lung Disease Called LAM?

Hi, I have just found out I have LAM. It is a lung disease and there is no cure. I don t know much about it. I am 55 years old and don t know if I was born with this or how bad it is. Should I be scared? Thank you, Sandra

Thans for your query.
LAM or lymphangiomyomatosis is a disease where there is proliferation of LAM cells in the lungs. The disease use to exacerbate on exposure to estrogen specially during pregnancy or if the patient is on hormonal replacement therapy.
Since you are post menopausal it poses lesser risk.
Get a pulmonary function test, CT scan done for better evaluation of the extent of the disease and meet pulmonologist of your area...
