Should I Be Worried About A Brown Spotting After An Unprotected Sex? What Is The Cause?

Hi I had my period 2-3 weeks ago. No to sure on the dates but positive more then two weeks ago. Me and partner have been having unprotected sex and now I have had brown spotting. Could I be pregnant, or what could be the cause of the spotting. It's not like a normal period.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Symptoms are suggestive of an early pregnancy. Brown spotting with delayed period following unprotected sex is indicative of implantation bleeding which usually occurs 10-14 days after conception. I advise you to get a home pregnancy test done on an early morning urine sample and consult a gynecologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
