Should I Be Worried About Bleeding In The Ear Caused After Using Q-tip?

So I came home from work today and my wife s ear was bleeding after using a q-tip. She didn t go in deep and there s no ringing in her ears, dizziness or anything like that. She said it just feels muffled but not pain, which could be because there s still some blood in there when I looked. What do you think?

Hello,

Without an exam, I can only give general information. Mostly it is small and not in a significant structure from q tip damage (the outer part gets a small cut). AND it gets better in a day.

There can be punctured ear drum. You would nearly always know it. There can be a localized infection better treated with antibiotics from a cut in the ear canal getting infected by whatever germs are near there.

There can be a very very tiny boil formed from this that needs poking by a doctor and antibiotics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
