Should I Be Worried About Low Pulse Rate And Sinus Bradycardia?

I am a 53 year old retired Special Forces soldier who has always had a very low heart rate hi 30's to mid 40's when resting. I've been retired for about 6 years now, so I am not in as good of physical shape as I was. My heart is still in the 40's. My ekg states I have marked sinus bradycardia. Is this something I should get checked out?

Hi,

Some individuals have low base line heart rate especially athletes and sports person. This can be a normal variant and nothing much to worry about it.
You can consult a cardiologist and get evaluated , you have to take an echo to assess the pumping action of your heart. If the pumping is adequate, nothing much to worry and you will be fine. If pumping is inadequate you have to start on drugs.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
