Should I Continue Taking Diabetes Medicine With Normal Sugar Level?

I was taking medicine for diabetics. However, for the last 2 months, I have not taken any medicines. Today when I checked my sugar levels, fasting and PP, I found the levels to be normal. Even before I stopped the medicine 2 months, back, I did the 3 month average test for sugar and found that also to be in normal. Should I continue to take the medicines?

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Sir/Madam,
The best way to come out of this dilemma is to get a glucose tolerance test done.
This test is so standardized that it will tell you definitely in what stage of diabetes you are. Most of the tests in medicine give you values in range so it is left to the decision of the doctor But GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test) has internationally accepted values to decide on status of diabetes.
Now whether you need medicines are not is the most important question from your perspective. Well if your values in GTT show only mild variation with HbA1c less than 7 you can try control sugars only with diet, exercise and weight loss.
All the very best!
