Should I Do Biopsy For Thyroid Nodules?

Hi. I was diagnosed with nodules on my thyroid. This happened around 44 years ago. I never got any biopsy because I felt scared. As of today, I don t feel anything different nor never bother me at all. Do you think I should get the biopsy done at this time?

Hi thanks for using Healthcaremagic

Any nodule has to be followed up...
We do biopsies in the following conditions
1.Nodule of more than 1 cm in size
2.Ultrasound findings of suspicious nodule

When a nodule is more than 1cm size it is better to do a biopsy...
Biopsy means FNAC --Fine needle aspiration cytology.
It is not that accurate as Biopsy..To do Histopathology full specimen (thyroid) is required .We can do it only after thyroidectomy
But FNAC is also a very good option .

My suggestion is to do an FNAC if the nodule is more than 1cm in size...

thank you....
