Should I Go To A Doctor For Pain, Redness And Burning Sensation In The Eye Due To Shampoo Accidentally Entering The Eye?

Got shampoo into my eye, burned really hard and painful, felt like fire at the first 30 seconds. Did some water sprays, and at the moment my right eye is auto closed but I can open it, the instinct is just to be closed. The eye is obvs red, but the pain is when I blink. Like inside the skin inside the eye, not on the eye itself. Should I go to a doctor check, or wait couple days and try take care of it alone?

Hello,

You are experiencing pain, redness and burning sensation in the eye due to shampoo accidently entering the eye. You should flush your eyes with cold water. Stand in the shower and aim the nozzle at your forehead. The water will run down your face and into one or both the eyes reducing your discomfort. Do not rub, scratch or touch your eyes. Wash your hands with soap and water.

With the application of some cool water to flush the irritant out, your eye will almost certainly be back to normal after a few minutes. However, if the irritation, burning and discomfort continues you should get clinically examined by an eye specialist.

Allergic reaction to a specific ingredient in the shampoo may cause blurry vision, blood or pus coming out of the affected eye. Get examined, get treated at the earliest. In the meantime for relieve you can apply I tone eyedrops, 2-3 times twice daily to prevent infection. You can also use Artificial eye drops, 2-3 drops twice daily to keep your eyes moist and comfortable.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
