Hi. I had a perirectal fistula surgery some years ago. Yet now I'm getting abcesses around the scare, which causes the scare to finally open and let the fluid out. I saw a surgeon today and he believes the fistula is active and branched out. It is somewhat painful and I'vehad bleeding. Should I have a surgery?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Praveen's Response
Hi dear.Since the fistula is active and branched out it needs to be drained and the tracts needs excision.Surgery is the only option and I were to operate as soon as possible to avoid/prevent further progression. All the best.
