Should I Switch To Prilosec Despite Concerns About PPIs If Pepcid 40 Mg Isn’t Relieving My GERD?

I’ve been taking 2-mg Pepcid for 10 years. Prescribed by my cardiologist to help protect my stomach from the meds that i’m taking (mi). My acid reflux is now gerd and the Dr. has upped my Pepcid to 40mg. with little effect on the gerd symptoms. Should I be on Prilosec? I’ve heard bad things about the ppi drugs
