Should I Take Another Test For HIV After Having Negative P24 Antigen And Pcr Rna Test?
I have a doubt of hiv infection on 1st June. I test p24 antigen on 11june was negative.Again I tested pcr rna on 8th July was also negative. After it I tested on 8th august antibody test was also negative. Should I test myself again. This happen this year 2013.
As far as HIV1, which is commonest HIV infection, is concerned you need no further test, as your P24 antigen test was negative after 4 weeks of risky exposure. Your antibody test was negative after 65 days would not be sufficient to overcome the window period. A negative antibody test after 90 days would rule out both HIV1&2 conclusively, even though the chances for HIV 2 is the rarest possibility. So repeat the antibody test once again after 12 weeks of your risky contact. Dr S.Murugan
