Should I Take Antibiotics For The Blood Lesion On The Leg Which Popped And Bled And It Was In Weird Reddish Colour?
I have a blood boil or lesion on my leg. The area immediately around it is hard to the touch and the boil/lesion just popped and bled a lot. I have a prescription for antibiotics and the pain is negligible, easily managed with no medication, not even OTC. My question is, the blood at first was a weird redish color, not dark like blood usually is and my first thought is that the wound is infected. Am I correct in this thought process? Should I take the antibiotics and see how it goes, or is this life threatening?
Boil with surrounding hard area suggests some bacterial infection. Take proper local care. Do cleaning with antiseptic liquid and start to apply antibiotic cream like fusidic acid. Take oral antibiotic like moxifloxacin or amoxy/cavulinic. Take nsaid even there is no pain to subside the inflammation. It will subside within 5 to 7 days.otherwise consult your family physician for further better management.
