Should I Undergo MRI For Periods Lasting 3 Weeks?

Hi , I'm 20 years old and a university student and stressed. my periods started lasting 3 weeks and my dr. changed my birth control . She orded blood work and my prolactin level was 26.5, two weeks later it was 37. She is ordering an MRI. Should i be worried?

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Your Prolactin levels are higher than normal, but not abnormally high.
An MRI is done to know if there is some pituitary tumour that leads to high prolactin levels.
I do not think you should be worried as most of the times, it can be due to stress also.
