Hello Sir, If an individual has torn his/her ACL ligament, it is happened almost five years ago, has 23 years age, so what would you suggest that he should do surgery or not having surgery? what you think if the time is passing on it, not having surgery, what would be the side effects in old age? some other information regarding it cause the doctors know better than us even we can make a question what they think to tell us. thanks a lot With Regards, OMAID

Hello and welcome to HCM,
ACL is anterior cruciate ligament of the knee joint.
Ligament injuries are difficult to manage because ligaments and cartilages are avascular structures or do not have blood supply.
Tear in the ACL is managed conservatively initially.
However, when torn ligament cannot be managed by conservative means, surgical treatment is required.

Thanks and take care
