Should I Worry About The Swelling In Ear After Piercing, Swelling Has Spread To Side Of The Head?

Hello! My daughter has an infected ear ring piercing and it seems like not only is her ear swollen, but the side of her head appears to be slightly swollen as well. She has taken out the ear ring and applied topical salve for healing, but is concerned about the swelling on her head. How should we care for her? Is there a need to worry about the infection having any effect on her brain? We are all a bit concerned. Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for asking in HCM.
I have gone through your history which suggested me that your daughter is having swollen ears following ear piercing and having swelling in the head.
I suspect that swelling in the head is nothing but extension of the infection of the ear following ear piercing.Nothing to worry as you have removed the ear rings the infections will come down and swelling will go.
This might be due to faulty technique.
If swelling persists please contact you ENT surgeon.
