Should Ramipril Be Started Immediately For High Blood Pressure?

hi there I was taken off Ramipril approx 2/3 months ago , with no pressure check , told at pharmacy I didn t need it anymore , had it checked today and it;s gone up pretty high , higher than BEFORE i started taking it in 2015 , I have now been prescribed it again 5mg daily , how soon should it start to help ?
