Should A Depressed Person First Go To A Psychiatrist Or Have Anti Depressants?

I'm living in Shanghai, China, and my 25-year old daughter is living in nnnn of Los Angeles, California. I believe she is clinically depressed, and she thinks so too. I would like to advise her properly, as I think she will ultimately need to take anti-depressants. Would it be better for her to go to a psychologist first (and be referred to a psychiatrist for medication) or see a psychiatrist first?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I can understand your worry if I would be her doctor then I would encourage her for brining back the confidence first then would ask her the reason of her depression, and I will advise her to solve the problem with open hear and dialogue, advise her to think positively, keep the moral value high, these would for sure reduce her anxiety and depression level, going to see the psychiatrist would be last chance taken, give her moral support, every thing will be fine soon bye.
