I am a diabetic and am going to have an upper molar extracted. Would a morning appointment be best or would an early afternoon extraction by ok. I am a diabetic 2 and am taking pills 3 times a day. I am concerned and will appreciate your answer. Thanks. I will be off aspirin for a week before the extraction. I am also concerned re. bleeding. Lola Barros, Fresno, Calif. Morning appointment is preferable for tooth extraction. Due to over night fasting the blood sugars levels may be well under control. Secondly cortisone an anti stress and haemostasis hormone is more in the blood in the morning hours of the day. Thirdly you have the rest of the day to monitor immediate complications. So i would advice my patient to undergo tooth extraction in the morning.
