Should A Pinker Than Normal Tongue Be A Cause For Concern?

hi, my daughter has just started her period yesterday, she is 11 yrs old, just a few minutes ago she came to me and showed me her tongue, it appears to be pinker than normal, like she had some pink candy, like cotton candy pink, i asked her to go brush her teeth and tongue and the patch which covers the anterior portion of her tongue is still there, should i be concerned?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your daughter is suffering from inflammation of the tongue, also known as Glossitis and can be due to hormonal changes that occurs during Menstruation..
It can also be due to deficiency of Iron and Vitamin B12, traumatic injury to tongue, burning with hot liquids etc..
Nothing to worry as it will hopefully resolve soon..
You can give her a multivitamin tablet daily for 15 days..
She can do warm saline gargles..
Gargle with Numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine if there is pain..
You can rinse with cool water and suck ice..
Avoid spicy and hard foods..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
