Should An X-ray Be Taken For Persistent Cough?

I am a 62 year old male and have had a persistent cough for a while. I get nasal infections often but this is a cough that is not going away. It is not a deep chest cough but it is constant. What kind of doctor should I see and should I get some sort of X Ray? I have suffered from an overabundance of phlegm for years also.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be bronchitis, but you should definitely see doctor. Depending on geographic location, your general practitioner can arrange for an X-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
