Should An Endocrinologist Be Consulted For Excessive Weight Gain And PCOS?
My daughter is 27. Over the last four years or so she has had problems with weight gain. Although she hasn t always eaten healthy she has eaten better in the last couple of years but her weight still is not where it should be. She has been diagnosed with PCOS and has been under a doctors care for this for a few years. She just had a scan of her ovaries today and nothing new showed up. Her doctor took a thyroid test and it came back negative for any problems. But she just told her today that she still thinks that what is it and for my daughter to ask her regular family doctor if she should go see a specialist about her thyroid. Do you think she should go see a specialist. I do know that her grandmother, my husband s mother had some thyroid problem herself.

Yes you have to consult your doctor to know about what is the exact cause of your symptoms and management. Iit may be due to PCOD or hypothyroidism or prolactinoma or anemia or diabetes etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
