Hi I have an infection on my elbow. It is very tender to the touch with swelling about the size of 1/2 golfball. Can / should I lance it to release the pressure and and clean thoroughly? I have some Flagyl, 250 mg. Should I use some of those? thank you, YYYY@YYYY

Hi,
Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. I have seen many cases with similar complaints. Please find my advice below-:
1)Take Rocephin 1gm IM one injection
2)As it is a big abscess so it should be drained by a doctor as per proper medical procedures and daily dressing is required.
3)Post drainage period take Pancef-orally 200 mg two times per day upto 48 hours of healing with probiotics lactobacillus.

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me.
