Should Blood Thinners Be Taken After Undergoing Hip Surgery?

Had hip surgery on thursday where they repaired ligaments, cartilage, and ground the hip bone down.This was a out patient procedure but the anestesia affected me alot i guess because after going into recovery i didnt wake up for 7 hours. My question is should my doctor have prescribed blood thinners or any medical device to prevent blood clots. I didnt recieve anything and thought that odd
