Should Cetapin XR 500 Be Stopped After Reducing Fasting Blood Sugar Levels?

Hello Doctor,

I have been taking cetapin XR 500 since the last 5 years. My blood sugar level (fasting) has reduced drastically to normal range. What should I do? Should I stop the medication? I take the medicine during meals for two times a day.

Thank you!

Dear sir

Cetapin XR 500 mg contains metformin 500 mg sustained release tablets, which is given for controlling sugars.

If your fasting sugars and post prandial sugars decrease, you should not stop taking these tablets. It does all protective functions along with controlling sugars.

It is advised to continue tablets till your doctor says not to do.

Thanks
