Should Doctor Be Consulted For Minor Tear In Meniscus?

I think I have a miniscus tear (small one). I ve had it before when I was running. I wasn t running when this happened...just walking. I was off it for 3 days and it seems to be getting better. Still no stairs for me but I can walk...some pain...less every day. My husband thinks I should go to a doctor. I think I can just wait and take it easy. What should I do.

Hi.

Meniscal injuries can cause instability of the joint and a few other symptoms that reduce the quality of life very very mildly. Going about an arthroscopy which is both diagnostic and therapeutic will certainly help. If you dread going to the doctor then go about the RICE protocol (i.e. rest, ice application, compression using elastic bandage and elevation of leg to prevent swelling).

Best wishes.
