Should Glasses Be Worn All The Time If Having Near Sightedness?

HI......... my SON age 13 is near sighted. The doctor asked him to wear glasses only when he wants to see something far off and asked him not to wear them when reading at a close distance. so he hardly wears them.. but if he does not wear them continously for a month.... his face starts twitching unknowly to him. sometimes he says it hurts........ but if he continous to wear them even for close distance then he is fine...... is this normal or else what should be done. what is his problem?

what else do u need to know

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that your son is having myopia or near sightedness.
He needs to wear the glasses always and the concept of wearing the glasses only for seeing distant things is not correct.
Hence I advice you to see that he wears the glasses always. Wearing the glasses regularly will help in preventing the rapid increase in the refractive error also.

Hope the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
