Should Hernia In Lung Be Treated For A Person With History Of Tumour?
i had a tumor removed from my lung Lobectomy by breaking my ribs and a large incision, 1-27-2015 I now have a hernia lung with pressure and popping out of my back when I cough, talk loud or sneeze. It does hurt sometimes.. Does need to be corrected? Will it get bigger? and why didn t my ribs come back down in position after surgery?
Hello and welcome to HCM, It is very unusual for a hernia to develop in the chest after lobectomy. Hernia can develop on a previous surgical site. However, lungs protruding from the surgical site is extremely uncommon. However, I suggest you to consult your surgeon and undergo further investigations- CT or MRI to actually assess the condition of lungs and surrounding tissues. If a hernia has developed to an extent to cause herniation of lung, a surgical correction is required. Hernia increases in size with time and can cause complications if not corrected well in time.
