Hi,

According to your history the brown discharge you are having could be due to the withdrawal effect of the emergency contraceptive pill. Brown color, usually indicates the collected blood in the uterus. Generally the success rate of emergency contraceptive pill depends how early you have taken the pill.

As you have taken the pill after 30 hours, though protection is expected, but that may not be 100%. If you miss your expected date of periods better to go for a pregnancy test after two weeks of unprotected intercourse. A blood test is preferable as that can give a more accurate result. In that serum beta HCG levels of less than 5 mIU/mL rules out the possibility of pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
