Should I Be Concerned About The Trouble In Reading And Black Spots Floating Across My Vision?

In the last couple of days, I've noticed black spots of squiggly black lines floating across my vision. I can follow them with my eyes, then they disappear and reappear. I've been having a harder time reading in the last couple of months and have up'd my readers to 2.0, and I am planning on making an appt with the optometrist. Should I be concerned?
