Should I Be Concerned As I Am Having Bright Red Bleeding After A Surgical Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion 4 days ago. The first day I just had a very small amount of brownish spotting. From the second day (continuing still today) the bleeding is bright red. It's not heavy but is continual. I'm a bit concerned about it being bright red. Is this a cause for concern?
Hello, I have gone through the query and understood your concern. It is normal to experience some amount of bleeding after an abortion, be it from whatever method. It is more or less like a natural period. If the bleeding is heavy, persistent, associated with clots or pieces, foul smelling and/or painful, you need to get immediate medical attention. Please maintain proper genital hygiene. Do not douche or use strong soap solutions to clean the genital area. Do not use tampons either; use sanitary napkins instead. Get a follow up sonogram two weeks after the procedure. Hope this helps.
