Should I Be Worried About The Bleach In Eye In Spite Of Cleaning It Thoroughly?
Last night (around 8:30) I had unscrewed the nozzle on a bottle of multi purpose bleach cleaner because liqud was getting low and I couldn t spray it any longer and during the process drops of bleach splattered in both eyes (it wasn t a whole lot, just a drop or two). I immediately rinsed with water, for about 20 mins. It burned or stung and my eyes were red. Before I went to bed it felt like I had grit in them. Today my eyes look normal but I m getting paranoid and wondering if I need to go to the ER tonight to get an eye wash to make sure I got all of the bleach out ( I bought an eye wash from Walgreens today before going to work but I don t know if I should use it or not. I do have a doctor s appointment on Tues, June 10 and wondered if I should get a referral to see an eye doctor then. Thanks
Hello It seems from the history that bleach splashed into your eyes. You have done good thing by the eye wash. The next mode of treatment depends on the extent of damage caused by the bleaching powder. The general treatment is by use of antibiotics and artificial tears eye drops. Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for further examination to assess the extent of damage and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
