Should I Be Worried About The Headache, nausea And Anxiety After Quitting Marijuana?

Hi, I have recently gone from smoking marijuana all day every day for 8 years, and I am now going through severe withdrawals. I have bad anxiety and I'm a worrier anyway, but with quitting I'm getting bad headaches, dizziness, and can't stop thinking that I have a tumor. I'm also dealing with a lot of underlying stress right now. Should I go to the hospital? My friend gave me Xanax and that seems to help, but I don't have insurance
And understand the consequences of continuing this

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi.

I understand your concern.

Marijuana is cannabis and sudden cessation can lead to withdrawal symptoms. There are two types of withdrwal. Headache, nausea, dizziness are physical withdrawal features. Psychological withdrawal is craving of marijuana.

Anxiolytic can help to reduce these symptoms. Xanax is anxiolytic and short term treatment of xanax will be beneficial.

Symptomatic treatment of withdrwal features are also advisable.

Consult psychiatrist for proper way of De addiction and councelling.

Consult psychiatrist and get help.

I hope I have answered your question.

Thank you.
