Should I Be Worried About The Old Scar Developing A Bump On It After An Ear Infection?

Hi I have an old scar on my forehead that has recently developed A Ridge or bump that follows the whole length of the scar. It seems numb to the touch, but slightly painful when pressure is applied. This scar is 45 years old, and I just recently got over a serious skin infection on my right ear which was very severe should I just see a dermatologist or should I see my primary care physician?

Hi,

You should see a plastic surgeon.

If it is a burn scar, then you are at a risk of developing Marjolin's ulcer, which is a malignant transformation of a longstanding skin lesion. Since you have been having this lesion for over 40 years, now so you are at risk of developing it, so definitely consult a plastic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
