Should I Be Worried About The Redness In Lower Lip And Metallic Taste?

Hi, I have a small smooth patch that is a bit red on the inside of my lower lip. I noticed the feeling a while ago but just saw that they area was a slightly different color. It just feels a bit different from the rest of my lip with a bit of a metallic taste. Should I be worried?

Hi,

The small smooth patch that is a bit red on the inside of your lip might be a herpetic sore, especially if you are also having flu symptoms. You can send a photo of the red patch to me for further evaluation.

The metallic taste is due to blood coming out from the patch (small amount). There is nothing you should be worried about the metallic taste.

I advise to:
- take good oral hygiene
- gargle with water and salt
- apply honey on the smooth patch

If it will not disappear or if the symptoms will be worst, should contact your physician or ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Wish fast recovery!
